RESIDENTS in part of Great Harwood will soon be able to use community facilities again when a residents' association reopens its doors during the day.
Greenhill Residents Association, based at the Jubilee Centre, Greenhill, stopped opening five months ago when a shortage of committee members meant the group faced possible closure.
That threat was averted in November when new candidates came forward to fill the roles of treasurer and secretary.
Now the committee is back to full strength and members decided at their annual meeting to re-open the centre two days a week.
From March 31, residents can use the computers and telephone at the centre for two hours from noon, on Mondays and Fridays.
Paul Dunn, vice-chairman of the group, said: "We decided to go back to basics and try to open again during the day. Recently we have only been opening up for bingo and when anybody wanted to go in.
"The hours depend how many people want to pop in to use the facilities. We are going to give it a try."
The association formed three years ago and represents more than 200 residents on the estate.
With £1,500 funding from the council and a Jubilee grant, it provided four computers for people on the estate to use.
A further £1,000 grant from the CVS last year meant the group could add more software, and card tables for whist nights. Bingo sessions are held every other Wednesday from 7pm.
