FOLLOWING away wins at local rivals Nelson and Padiham the Reds never looked like taking anything from this encounter as they slipped to defeat at lowly Leek.

Colne started the better of the two sides for the first 10 minutes and controlled the game.

From a corner the visitors were caught on the break and, from their first attack, Leek took the lead when a shot was driven in at the far post after some poor defending.

The Reds' day got worse when captain Matt Woods limped off injured after 15 minutes and they then had a penalty appeal turned down when Ingham was tripped in the box.

But a minute before half-time Colne got back into the game when, from a Cooper free kick, Evans headed in off the post.

The second half was a much more scrappy affair and on 68 minutes, the Reds' defence was caught out once again with a quick break and Leek went 2-1 up.

Colne's joint manager Paul Lynch said: "We got exactly what we deserved. After the last two games I was very disappointed with the performance. Only a couple of players came out of the game with any credit and that's simply not good enough.

"If we want to do anything next season we've got to come to places like Leek and grind results out."

Colne entertain Padiham tomorrow, kick-off 7.45pm and there will be free admission for children.
