A YOUNG Bury actress is getting a slice of television action after being selected to appear in a series of advertisements for Domino's Pizza.
Penny Deakin (6), is the latest youngster from the town's Carol Godby Theatre Workshop to be propelled into the spotlight. And she is set to become a familiar face on our TV screens when the series of seven ads are broadcast from Easter Monday onwards.
But this isn't her first appearance on the small screen. She had a small role in the popular Clocking Off series. Young Penny, a pupil at St Joseph's and St Bede's primary school, enrolled in the theatre workshop two years ago.
Proud mum Jane said: " In the pizza adverts, Penny plays the part of the youngest daughter in a family. And there's also a pet duck.
"My daughter was put forward for the audition by the Carol Godby Theatre Workshop. She was picked for a second audition and then recalled and told she had the part.
"The filming was done over three days and Penny absolutely loved it. That's really what she wants to do. She wants to be an actress."
Earlier, Penny, of Eastham Avenue, was selected from 600 young hopefuls for a Shredded Wheat TV advertisement. But a last minute hitch meant she didn't do it.
Not to be outdone, nine-year-old sister Jamie also appeared with Penny in Clocking Off.
