PUPILS at a Burnley school gave an Antarctic scientist a warm reception.
Girls at Burnley's St Hilda's RC Girls' High School were given an insight into life in the frozen wastes of Antarctica by Alex Gaffikin.
She told the school about surviving in temperatures as low as minus 30 degrees Celsius, spending weeks in darkness, spectacular sunsets, ice cliffs, iceberg mirages and wildlife.
