WHAT will happen to the Blackburn Infirmary building when services are relocated to the new Queen's Park Hospital?
I have heard rumours that the buildings will be demolished to create a housing estate; that it will be used for educational or religious purposes; that it is going to be converted into office space; that it is going to be transformed into a hotel, that it is going to be used to house asylum-seekers and that it will continue as a hospital providing private health care.
I personally believe that, given the amount of heritage and historic buildings in Blackburn with Darwen has lost over the years, there is a strong case for retaining the Infirmary buildings.
However, it is important that what ever happens to the Infirmary must be well thought out and must benefit the people of the town, particularly the Infirmary and Ewood area.
