RESIDENTS who attended a meeting of the parish council last night have opted to raise a petition against building on land between Pike Hill and Worsthorne,
The decision came after Michael Wellock, an expert on Burnley's new local plan was unable to attend the meeting. He will now attend the next meeting on Tuesday May 13.
Residents are concerned that developers intended to seek permission to build on the land.
Coun Alan Lawson pointed out that Burnley Borough Council were strongly against granting permission on green areas.
Residents insisted a petition be raised to ensure that all villagers could support Burnley Borough Council's position.
A NEW road surface is to be laid in Lennox Street before people move into the houses. Burnley Borough Council is in receipt of a bond which will enable them to complete the works if necessary.
