BURNLEY made it three wins out of three against local rivals Rossendale this season as both sides served up a feast of rugby.

The visitors ran in seven tries to Rossendale's three as running rugby was the order of the day.

Burnley started with more desire than their hosts and were three tries up within the first 20 minutes - with scrum half Chris Egan being given the time to pick his moves by a hard-working pack.

Gary Kay and Pete Annice both made excellent contributions and were unlucky not to be on the score sheet themselves.

The front row of Shane Hartley, Eamon Walsh and Howard Hartley were strong in the scrum given the weight advantage of the opposing front row had over them, and were ably supported in the second row by Tim Coyne and Bryan Teal.

Rossendale roared back early in the second half to score three tries of their own but Burnley, led by the inspirational Mick Nichols, responded to finish strongly.

Number eight Carl Wilkins made good yards with the Burnley forwards supporting in numbers giving the backs the opportunity to seal the victory with a further three tries.
