PRESTON found themselves dogged by more dodgy decisions by the man in black.
For the second time in as many games, goals which should have stood were disallowed thanks to some disputable refereeing.
This time, Eddie Lewis' 31st minute free kick came down off Burnley's bar and appeared to go well beyond the line.
As the ball spun back out, Richard Cresswell and Simon Lynch stumbled into one another to blast over from just yards out.
Had Lewis' goal stood, as it should according to the TV pundits, the game could have been totally different.
But Preston failed to capitalise on their chances and as a result Preston conceded a goal either side of half time.
David Lucas pulled off a fine save to block Steve Davis' effort on 41 minutes, but Dimi Papadopoulos knocked it past the North End keeper from a tight angle.
On 61 minutes, Robbie Blake curled a perfect shot beyound a North End wall from a free kick to beat Lucas.
Craig Brown was right - Burnley were a side to fear.
BURNLEY 2 PRESTON 0
