I spent four days in Parliament Square and one day in Hyde Park demonstrating on behalf of peace.
On Saturday the 22nd of March, I was at the biggest ever war-time anti-war demonstration in the course of British history. Previously, on the 8th of March, I joined the biggest ever demonstration for peace in Manchester.
Previous to that, on the 15th of February, I was present at the biggest ever demonstration for peace held anywhere in the world, that took place in London.
The breadth of these and other demonstrations for peace have seen the multi-cultural communities of Britain organise and place new found claim upon their human rights with a new wave of community activism, especially from ethnic minority communities. The Stop the War Coalition, the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament and the Muslim Association of Britain have together been precious to revived strength in solidarity with people across all denominations determined to act for peace.
I believe that peace is the cure to the scourge of war and that this cure is found there in the hearts of our children.
To help the people of Iraq, you can either donate your money to Oxfam (0781 5534591) in Burnley or Muslim Global Relief (01282 604055) in Nelson.
Alternatively, if you wish to sponsor my walk for Oxfam's Southern African Crisis Appeal from Fort William to Inverness on the 9th of May, you can post your cheques to me at 14 Berkeley Street, Brierfield, BB9 5PZ. Please give generously. You can also help if you demonstrate yourself for peace.
Mr. Nasir Ifzal,
