A local youth-led organisation held it's annual presentation evening in Blackburn.
The presentations took place for projects relating to numerous issues that affect young people including substance misuse, educational guidance, CV preparation, bullying and unemployment.
Young people from the Bank Top Youth Forum presented their issues to decision makers, parents and other young people in the form of a drama.
"It was a very powerful and direct way of presenting the very real issues affecting young people locally. I would like to congratulate the Youth Forum and the young people on all the excellent achievements this year" said Harry Catherall, Deputy Chief Executive of Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council.
The Youth Forum successfully completed six projects this year.
Ali Hussain, the Youth Forum's Outreach worker said, "We would like to thank all the young people, without whom none of this would have been possible. We would also like to thank our funders including ConneXions Lancashire, the Football Foundation, Kick It Out, Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council for all their support and resources."
The highlight of the evening included the presentation of 'Special Awards' to two young people, who - through their involvement in the Banktop Youth Forum, have developed significantly as individuals in terms of confidence, ability and contributions to projects. Amir Akbar and Mariam Khan were this year's winners. The Youth Service was also given a special award.
"It has been an excellent night and a wicked year. We have done some interesting projects and we are all looking forward to continuing doing more and more" said Alex Townley, an enthusiastic member of the Youth Forum.
The Forum would like to recruit new members and work in partnership with other organisations too. If you would like to contact the Banktop Youth Forum you should call: 07909 968819 or email amarabass@hotmail.com
