There seems little doubt in the minds of most people that the Bush administration through sheer and vast destruction will achieve their objective.
When the Bush Administration decided on their policy for the war in Iraq as one that would deliver shock and awe, they conveniently forgot to mention that scores of innocent men, women and children would be killed.
The civilian toll might even run into thousands. Throughout this so called war of liberation we have already seen civilian areas blown to kingdom come.
What does the righteous Mr Blair have to say about this?
Not a word of apology to the Iraqis that he has sent those poor British servicemen in to save.
Rather than apologise he has sought, along with the American Government to lay the blame on stray Iraqi missiles. Yet at the same time the American generals on the field more or less admitted that it was their handiwork.
To Mr Blair, however the truth is no longer important. He now is a man possessed. Possessed with the desire to win the war, to win the argument and to win the next election. Even his face is beginning to look twisted with all the lies that he and his cronies are propagating.
The two British servicemen, he stated were executed by Iraqi forces. Shame for him then that the Ministry of Defence had already declared that they had in actual fact died in action. What about the feelings of the families of the servicemen?
It was no surprise really that when he made that shocking and awful accusation, he was across the Atlantic, presumably discussing already how the spoils of war were to be divided. Mr Blair, aptly named the Poodle, has decided obviously that he wants to embrace all that is American..... warts and all.
While innocent Iraqi civilians and British servicemen are losing their lives Blair and Bush discuss how Iraq is to be ruled after the war. The purpose of Blair's visit to America and Bush's visit this side of the Atlantic was probably no more than to plead with Bush for a share in the war booty.
Bush however has it seems, "done the dirty" to use the vernacular, on our PM. He has already awarded big construction contracts to American companies. The contracts are to be signed soon. The American Government also seem to have muscled out the UN in the reconstruction programme.
So much then for the Bush's promise to the Blair in the Azores a few weeks ago that the UN would have a central role. The whole business is an unholy mess and at the base of it all is money.
The American government isn't just after Iraqi oil. They have declared that under their "governorship" they will reconstitute the Iraqi health and education system. Most abhorrently of all they are planning to set the curriculum for Iraqi schools. Any Iraqis who may have believed that the US government was there to liberate them had better know this: They are there to conquer, loot and install a puppet government to turn the people into unthinking sheep. The agenda is clear and the writing is on the wall.
Unlike Robin Cook though I won't be recanting. British troops had no business in giving their lives for this unholy war, which Blair and Bush conceived.
In reality of course there is no prospect of the jingoistic and arrogant US ever pulling out. Not now and not ever.
Meanwhile, much of world wants them to return home with their tails between their legs and humiliated in the hope that they will then at least think twice before turning their attention in the future to Iran, Syria, North Korea etc.
