IT IS not often that I am left speechless but that is what happened to me on Saturday afternoon as news started to come through from Turf Moor.

I had been out swimming and had a bit of lunch before watching the Man United game and then I was told it was 3-1 at Burnley.

At first I was happy but the person who told me forgot to mention it was to Watford!

From then on my reaction to events must have been the same as everyone else - I was stunned!

I couldn't believe what I was seeing as the goals kept going in and I never thought Watford would be able to score seven goals. It left me remembering what it had been like when we played at Grimsby.

I said that night that Burnley fans would never see another game like it but they have. I spoke to a few of the lads after the game and they were gutted, they knew it had been a nightmare.

That is why I was so delighted that they came back and won the Lancashire derby match on Tuesday night.

Having talked to them I know they were hurt by the Watford game and I think that helped to inspire them to victory against Preston.

A derby match was probably the perfect game for them and it sounds as if they responded in exactly the right way. They bounced back and I know the win has given everyone a big lift. It was also revenge for our defeat at Deepdale.

Now they have to carry that on in the two away games that are coming up in the next few days, at Norwich and at Portsmouth.

The gaffer made two changes and I know Niko came back in and made a couple of good saves. He looks to have taken his chance and done well and I am pleased for him, he is a good lad. But it is important that people don't forget what Marlon has done for the club this season.

I have only seen the Watford goals on the telly but it does look as if he was left exposed a few times. I heard a few of the fans got on Bezzer's back but he does not deserve that.

We have let too many goals in this season, everyone can see that, but that is down to the team as a whole, not just the keeper.

Another Saturday off

THERE is no game for Reading this weekend because we were supposed to be playing Watford and Burnley fans don't need reminding what they are doing on Sunday.

It seems like a long time since I played and by the time we take on Preston next Tuesday I will have just played once in about three weeks.

Then we have three games in six days and I can't wait to get going again. My Reading debut last Friday went quite well on a personal level but it was a match we should not have lost against Brighton. It is not only Burnley that slip up when they shouldn't.

I felt we deserved at least a draw but we gave away a couple of bad goals, missed chances and a couple of decisions went against us. The good news was Norwich and Ipswich lost and they are the ones closest to breaking into the top six.

I am tapping up the lads for a bit of info on Preston before we play them next week and I can't wait to get going again. For now it is another another weekend in front of the telly watching the scores come in.

I just hope that there is better news coming in from Carrow Road than there was from Turf Moor.
