THE Cube nightclub is set to launch a teenage disco after they received the backing of police and local headteachers.
Steve Smith, the owner of the Leigh nightspot which opened last month, plans to hold a monthly disco for 14 to 18 year-olds.
There will be no alcohol and smoking allowed, with soft drinks served all night during the two hour event, which will run from 7.30 - 9.30pm on a Thursday night at the Leigh club. Admission is £3.50.
Registered doorstaff and stewards will ensure a safe night for all teenage revellers.
The first teens only disco is planned for today (Thursday).
And Steve said that he plans to work closely with headteachers and police to make sure the night is a success.
He said: "I've spoken with all the headteachers in the area and most of them believe that it's a fantastic idea. The police have also been down and we have discussed the night in detail.
"I'm prepared to work with headteachers and police. If there are any problem kids who cause trouble then I'm prepared to bar them."
If the night is a success the disco will be repeated on every first Thursday of the month.
