ONE down, six more to go! That's the way we are looking at our remaining games as we prepare to enter the final straight.

And as they say at the Grand National, we look to be in a healthy position as we reach the elbow, which is more than can be said for some of Flitty's tips at Aintree last week.

Monday night's win at Fulham has put us in with a great shout of qualifying for Europe again for a second successive season.

I know it was a great time to play them given everything going on behind the scenes down there but to beat anyone 4-0 away from home in the Premiership is a fantastic result and we were all delighted with our night's work at Loftus Road.

Although the scoreline probably flattered us ever so slightly, I think we showed the nation what we can do when we really put our minds to it as an attacking force.

I was chuffed to get on the scoresheet again and I've reminded the lads that I'm now our joint-leading scorer in the Premiership this season!

But it was Hakan Sukur who, quite rightly, got most of the plaudits on the night and I thought he had a superb game up front.

The lads already knew what he was capable of after seeing him perform in training but it was the fans' first glimpse of his finishing ability and the way he stuck those goals away underlined what a quality player he is.

You don't score the amount of goals he has in the Champions' League or at international level unless you've got something about you and I think he showed the rest of the Premiership on Monday exactly what he's all about.

But we've now got to put Fulham out of our minds and focus on the challenges which lie ahead.

On paper, our run-in doesn't look too difficult but if we've learnt one thing over the last two years it's there really are no easy games in the Premiership.

Charlton will be tough opposition on Saturday, make no mistake about it.

They've had a great season under Alan Curbishley and they've got some talented players in the likes of Paul Konchesky and Scott Parker, who I know from my England Under 21 days.

We were well beaten down at the Valley before Christmas and they'll be double determined to do well at the weekend after last week's 6-1 thumping at the hands of Leeds.
