A POPULAR pub which attracts hordes of drinkers eager to sample beer at a bargain price has been put up for sale by a well known brewery chain.
The George and Dragon pub in Tyldesley town centre -- acknowledged as one of the cheapest places in the area for food and drink -- has been put on the market by JD Wetherspoon.
It is is one of 17 Wetherspoon's pubs nationwide to be put on the market.
The big Elliott Street pub will continue under the Weatherspoon's banner until it is sold as a going concern.
The move to sell the popular watering hole comes as part of the company's decision to sell some of its smaller establishments, although the George and Dragon is one of the biggest pubs in Tyldesley.
A spokesman for JD Wetherspoon said staff have been informed about the move to sell the pub and they could be relocated to other pubs within the chain.
