MORE than 1,500 scooter enthusiasts took to the streets of Lowton last Saturday to take toys and chocolates to sick kids at the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital in the annual Ginger's Easter Egg Run.
The enthusiasts, riding Lambretta and Vespa models, had a full police escort as they travelled through Leigh, Atherton, Little Hulton, Walkden and Swinton to the Pendlebury hospital.
Crowds packed along the route to watch the convoy make its hour long journey to the hospital, where they delivered their goodies to the children on the wards.
Organiser Kevin "Ginger" Lawton said this year's event was the best ever.
He said: "It was quite spectacular, the turnout was so good because of the weather and because this event is so well known now. Everyone had a great time."
This year's event ended with a party at the Railway Hotel in Atherton, which donated 100 Easter eggs.
