PIT site homes could create nightmares for Lowton and Golborne people who are meeting to raise development concerns.
A proposed major development at Parkside Colliery would, they say, send hundreds of lorries and cars their way.
Next Tuesday, Lane Head South Residents' Group invite others to discuss future development possibilities at a meeting at the Methodist Church in Newton Road, Lowton.
A Group spokesman said: "Wigan's replacement UDP will not stop what goes on in Warrington and St Helens but may hold some answers."
They intend to question whether the area around Lime House -- 100 years old this year -- should be made a conservation area; will there be more housing along the A580 corridor and will surviving open spaces be protected from development.
Also up for discussion is whether Stone Cross Park will be extended and whether there should be a Lane Head by-pass and if so, which route should it take.
