I'M sorry to learn that Vimto's new factory is to close with the loss of 60 jobs.
Drinks company Nichols, makers of Vimto and Sunkist drinks, has confirmed it is closing in Golborne after a short stay there. The plan is to relocate to the existing factory in Haydock.
The company was recently featured on a TV programme when I learned that my favourite cordial began life 95 years ago as Vimtonic and the secret ingredients are still locked and added behind closed doors.
What baffles me is how there can be mystery elements when by law all ingredients of foods are supposed to be listed on the label.
I don't particularly care what they are though, I can declare I am the drink's biggest fan and have been for half a century.
Before fridges became an integral part of a kitchen I made my own Vimto lollies by leaving a drink in the snow to freeze overnight? I'm not the only one am I?
Lovely jubbly.
