PUPILS at Derby High School were on the crest of a wave after successfully staging their production of Titanic -- The Unsinkable Dream.
Students took to the stage -- with a cast of more than 60 re-enacting the tale of the ship's watery end.
During the past four months, students have been busy rehearsing and even gave a special preview performance of the two-hour show to an audience of 200 pupils from local primary schools.
Many children, who did not want to appear in the show, volunteered to help out behind the scenes and gave up their time to help staff with lighting, sound and set design.
Headteacher Alyson Byrne, who was among the audience members on the first night, said: "The play was very well received by the audience.
"The show is so powerful because of the large number of people involved in the production. It was wonderful."
The Bury school has also recently been named as the first in the country to be awarded specialist status in science and performing arts.
