THERE'S a chance for families to see the enthralling 'Why the Whales Came' at the Dukes in Lancaster next week.

This real treat for Easter will be onstage for two nights only - Wednesday and Thursday, April 16 and 17 at 7.30pm, with a Thursday matinee at 2.30pm.

Set in the Isles of Scilly, Why the Whales Came tells the story of young friends Gracie and Daniel, who unravel the mystery of a haunted island.

Action-packed, with exciting visuals and music, it is desribed as a gripping adventure story for eight to 13 year- olds and their families alike.

Why the Whales Came is based on a book by best-selling author Michael Morpurgo, who has just about won every award for his writing, including the coveted Smarties Prize and most recently the Children's Book Award.

It is presented by Theatre Alibi whose work for family audiences is widely talked about as some of the best in the country. It first toured last autumn and played to full houses across the country and was highly praised by audience members and critics alike.
