IN response to the letter headed "Clean-up made our street worse" (April 4), I fully agree with the editor's comments about the parents and children in Ribble Drive, Bury, having some responsibility in this matter. But I doubt they will accept any.
It is unfortunate that items were removed from the skip and that Ribble Drive now looks a mess, with white paint all over the pavement. It is also a shame that all the effort which went into the clean-up day had to end up with this part of the estate looking worse than before!
I would like to apologise for my comment (Your Letters, April 4) asking if the organisers would now clean the paint from the pavement. As readers can imagine, I was extremely angry. What is normally a well looked after street, suddenly looked like a tip and many parents of the very young children removing things from the skip did nothing to stop them.
The residents fought long and hard to get a skip placed on Ribble Drive so that they could get rid of their unwanted furniture etc. But now, because of what has happened, it could be the last time we see one.
