A SUPERB win over Dagenham & Redbridge on Saturday has put Morecambe within touching distance of a coveted place in the end of season play-offs.

Goals from Adriano Rigoglioso and Wayne Curtis - both scored in a three minute spell in the second half - saw off the high-flying visitors at Christie Park.

And though the 'Daggers' went on to win 3-1 at Leigh RMI on Monday night, it means Morecambe still have an edge over them in the league table.

With just four games remaining, the Shrimps are in a comfortable fourth place in the Nationwide Conference standings and can taste a place in the historic first ever end-of-season dogfight.

Two more wins from four remaining fixtures will guarantee a play-off berth - and if results elsewhere go right even three more points at Farnborough this weekend may suffice.

Morecambe are in a rich vein of form at the moment. Jim Harvey's men have won four and drawn one of their last six games at a crucial time when other teams are faltering - the only loss was to a last minute goal at Gravesend.

The real crunch is likely to come over the Easter weekend when a home game against Scarborough (April 19) is followed by the daunting trip to Doncaster on Easter Monday (April 21).

With crowd favourite Jim Bentley likely to be back in contention after injury - and the boost of his signing a new contract at Christie Park - there should be a fully fit squad for Harvey to choose from for the run-in.
