FOOTBALL fans could soon have the sweet smell of success -- and pies --in their nostrils, thanks to an innovative Lytham company.
Frank Knight's firm Dale-Air, hopes every club in the country will soon have its own 'corporate aroma' to go with its club badge and colours.
"For Blackpool, the Tangerines, it would be relatively easy," said Seasiders season-ticket holder Frank: "For Everton, the Toffeemen it would also be fairly straight-forward and we could do something interesting with Ipswich -- the Tractor Boys.
"What might be more difficult is the clubs with an unusual nickname. For example, Manchester United are the Red Devils -- would that be a chilli? We want the fans to be involved in deciding what the club smell should be."
And fans will soon be able to savour the smell of a half-time pie, whenever they want.
Frank is talking to clubs, including Blackpool, about producing presentation packs, which capture smells from around the stadium. As well as the pitch, it will include the trophy room, dressing room and, most important of all, the half time meat and potato pastry!
Frank's company, which made its name supplying smells to museums up and down the country, is already in the football business. They provide an aroma to Glasgow Rangers FC, for their stadium tour, ensuring that the Ibrox dressing room always smells just like it does at 3pm on a Saturday. Dale-Air is also talking to a 'massive north-west club' about something similar for their tour.
