STAN Ternent has his wish list of players he wants to stay at the club and those he wants to bring in - but he admitted he has no idea if he will get what he wants.

The Burnley boss has 14 members of his squad out of contract in the summer but talks with his men are likely to remain on hold until the end of the season.

"I know who I will be retaining and who I want to sign but whether they accept the offers remains to be seen," he said. "I have got a few irons in the fire but I have not got much money to spend.

"There is no transfer market now for clubs like Burnley and there are going to be a lot of players out of work, and not because they are not good players.

"I think this season has been a watershed for the game and if players and agents haven't worked out there is no money in the game by now they never will.

"There will be a lot of good players available but it will still be a case of what we can afford."

His side against Norwich tomorrow will feature several of those players who are looking for a new deal, the likes of skipper Steve Davis and the versatile Graham Branch, but he denied that will be any added motivational factor.

"I think motivation is over-used, who motivates anyone to go to work in the morning?" he asked.

"If they can't be motivated to play for a club like Burnley, well they are in the wrong place."
