BURNLEY will fly down to Norwich in the hope that they will not come back down to earth after Tuesday's derby win against Preston North End.
It is the first of two long away trips, being followed by the trip to Portsmouth next Tuesday, and manager Stan Ternent admitted: "It helps us with our preparation because we can leave on Saturday morning, train a little and then come straight back.
"Nobody has put their hands in their pocket for this but we are going down with some fans and it should be good. With the Pompey game being a night match we will go up and down in the day. That trip is not as taxing."
With a day to go before the game there are still a few question marks over which members of his squad will be on the flight and it is possible that the Clarets will be unchanged from the Preston game.
"Everyone who played the other night is okay and we have to see who else might be fit," he said.
Drissa Diallo, Ian Cox, Gordon Armstrong and Andy Payton are all getting closer to full fitness but it is likely that there will be at least a couple of the club's young players on the bench at Carrow Road.
Last weekend Matty O'Neill made a promising debut in the closing minutes of the Watford game but Ternent may not be tempted into giving him or others a longer spell on the pitch.
"I will pick what I think is the best team available," he vowed.
On Tuesday night that meant having a five man midfield with only one out and out midfielder, Paul Weller, but having ended the long run without a win it may be a system he will stick with.
"I thought we deserved it and we played well," he said. "The skipper can play in midfield and Robbie can drop deep but I did have four strikers and that was just the way I set my team up."
Another man in an unusual position was the ever versatile Graham Branch and Ternent was eager to praise him.
""When he came here people said he couldn't play left back, he couldn't play centre back, he couldn't play as a centre forward," he said. "But it is not being wise after the event, I always knew he could.
"But it is important that players can play in different positions because I have not got the biggest squad."
Midfield has been a major problem all season for Ternent who was forced to let Kevin Ball and Lennie Johnrose last summer.
Dimitri Papadopoulos scored from his role on the right side of midfield against Preston and he will be hoping to make a rare second successive start in the first team.
Ternent knows it will be tough tomorrow against the club that denied Burnley a place in last season's play-offs by the agonising margin of just one goal.
"It looks like the top half dozen are clear but Norwich still feel they have a chance to get into the play-offs," he said. "I don't feel the need for revenge from last season, good luck to them and Nigel Worthington is a good friend of mine.
"They have a decent home record but we also have a lot to play for because we want to finish as high in the table as we can."
Last season the Canaries beat Burnley at Carrow Road in a match that saw two key players, Glen Little and Alan Moore, limp off with injury.
Gived the already stretched nature of his squad, Ternent will be hoping for better luck tomorrow afternoon and he can point to the fact that they are looking for a league double against the Norfolk side having beaten them 2-0 at Turf Moor earlier in the season with goals from Mark McGregor and Little.
The win against Preston was a timely boost ahead of a run in which features a number of tricky away games, starting at Norwich.
Ternent just hopes it will be a game that sets up a flying finish to a roller coaster season.
