I REFER to a letter of mine that you published in The Citizen on August 18 last year concerning the future of the Harris.
Your article last week about the purchase of the old post office confirms the fears I expressed.
Preston Council is buying the building with a view to converting it into a library and art gallery.
I have never heard anyone complain about the Harris Library. Last August I smelt fish. Now the fish has started to stink.
Will Preston council confirm or deny that they intend converting the Harris into the 'City Hall'?
I would remind the city fathers that the Harris is a Grade 1 listed building and, as such, no alterations may be made externally or internally either by removals or additions.
People of Preston, if you care for your city do not let this happen.
