THINK Chorley, think Thursday night. Now think funky House and some of best-known names on the underground scene.

And what have you got -- apart from a headache from so much Friday afternoon thinking?

Idyllic at Number Fifteens on a Thursday night -- that's what.

Granted, Chorley may not seem like the obvious choice for a night of sophisticated House music, but then who would have thought Todmorden would become the home for the country's longest running House night with Out in the Sticks.

Running fortnightly on a Thursday, Idyllic is the brainchild of Chris McDonald, who has been working on the concept for the last seven years, taking it all over the place.

From stately homes to Manchester clubs, Idyllic has set up base all over the place, and has found a perfect home inside Number Fifteens.

Chris said: "The venue is great, and it isn't about getting hopelessly drunk.

"It is a classy venue where the emphasis is on the music.

"Chorley has a lot of late licences but for House music fans, it doesn't have anything.

"It gives people the chance to listen to some quality music without having to travel to the cities during the week.

"We've done quite a few in Chorley now and it is getting a name for itself, with about 350 people passing through the doors each week. Im pleased with that."

As well as drawing a decent midweek crowd, the night is also getting in some well-known names, thanks to Chris' contacts.

The increasingly-popular Audiowhores topped the bill last night -- and next week (the Easter special) -- is set to be even bigger.

Up until now, Idyllic has been on the top floor of Number Fifteens. Next week, it takes over the whole building.

And while that means no trainers, it also means extra choice on the decks.

Out In The Sticks' Russ Marland is upstairs, along with Chorley DJ Phil Rose, who is well-known locally. Impressive saxophonist Tom Di Lips -- we've raved about him before when we reviewed Funktion in Preston -- and Dave Dalton are also on the bill.

Downstairs, the laid-back beat comes from Fat City Records and a DJ well-known to Jazzy Kex regulars, Paul Watson.

"We're doing really well to get these sorts of names in Chorley on a Thursday night, and that s why we are getting the crowds," said Chris.

The night runs until 2am next week. Number Fifteens is on Fazakerley Street, in the town centre. For more information, ring 07904 181792.
