LADIES... are you sick of your fella sneaking off to lap-dancing bars without telling you? Well -- revenge could soon be at hand.
Blackpool's first lap-dancing club exclusively for women -- Wicked -- looks set to open this summer at the former Adam 'n' Eve club.
If council licensing officials give it the go-ahead on May 1, it could lead the way for more adult entertainment centres, including gay and lesbian lap-dancing clubs.
More than £250,000 has already been spent renovating the former 80s hotspot on Chapel Street, into a lap-dancing-cum-nightclub venue complete with stage, dancefloor and seating areas.
Customers will pay £5 to get in, which includes hourly stage-shows featuring scantily-clad men performing specially choreographed routines, but can opt to pay an extra £5 for a sexy private dance.
Around a dozen lads have already been taken on by Wicked boss, local nightclub mogul -- Richard Evans -- who has been travelling round the town's gyms and bars talent-spotting.
The 41-year-old former owner of the Insomnia Nightclub, on Topping Street, has spent the last 20 years working in the resort's leisure industry and says it is time to break the taboo.
Richard said: "There are so many adult entertainment venues for the boys in Blackpool that I thought it was about time the girls got a look in on all the fun.
"Most people in Britain think that women are against lap-dancing clubs in general, but this is only because they are made to feel wrong for enjoying themselves and get left out of all the fun.
"But I've thought long and hard to tailor Wicked to appeal to women of all ages, backgrounds and have researched similar clubs in the USA, where male-lapdancing is all the rage.
"It's time to break with taboo by showing that lap-dancing doesn't have to be sleazy or tacky, just fun and sexy.
"Our lads have impeccable manners and will act like complete gentlemen while on duty, with carefully choreographed performances based on strict guidelines of what we deem is appropriate for our audience.
"Every taste in men will be catered for from David Beckham to Vin Diesel and, dependant on Wicked's success with the ladies, but there could be future plans to cater for gay groups.
"Either way we will be making sure that the girls of this town get a piece of the action."
