EVERY goal is important to Lutel James. He admits he doesn't highlight one as being more special than another.
Not even if it was the strike that clinched the UniBond Premier Division title and Accrington Stanley's place in the Conference next season.
"Every goal I score means a lot to me," the Stanley striker said.
"I'm up for every game and I want to win every match I play.
"Of course it would be nice if I was to get the goal that got us into the Conference, but it wouldn't make a difference to me because, over the season, I and other players have scored important goals.
"Myself and Paul Mullin have got 59 goals between us this season. We wouldn't be on the brink of the Conference without those 59 goals, but then you think about the others.
"Jon Smith's header in the last minute of the game against Whitby gave us a point the other week, and there have been other instances where things like that have happened.
"Everyone's done their job this season, and that's been the difference."
James, who has netted 30 times for the Reds this season, is coming to the end of his two-year contract.
But another deal for the former Bury player and strike partner Paul Mullin could be put on the table if Stanley finally make the UniBond Premier Division title theirs tomorrow afternoon when they entertain Altrincham at the Crown Ground.
The Reds can be promoted tomorrow if they win, and Barrow fail to beat Ashton.
Stanley's four-point haul in last week's double header at Droylsden then Whitby Town left them needing just five points to be crowned champions.
"It was a good weekend. It could have been six points because we were better than Drolysden but we can't really complain with four points," James said.
"I'll be honest, I was having bad feelings about playing two games in one weekend because I'd never known it before. But for some reason I felt better on the second day than the first. And we'd given our all on Saturday.
"But I think getting a point the day before, late in the game, gave us confidence because we knew we had to come out of that game with something.
"Collectively, we did well as a team over the two days. Individually, I was happy with my four goals, particularly the two headers I had because I never score with headers.
"We've just got to go out and win every game from now to the end of the season.
"We don't fear any team. No team is better than us because we're doing well and going in the right direction."
One member of the Altrincham squad for tomorrow's game will be eager to ruin the Stanley party.
Midfielder Barry Shuttleworth returns to the Crown Ground, where he started the current campaign, with the Robins for whom he has made 16 appearances since joining them in mid-season
THE PERMUTATIONS
PROMOTED: If Stanley win, and Barrow fail to beat Ashton.
If Stanley draw, Barrow can still catch them - even if they lose at Ashton.
