THE hideous advertisements in gaudy colours on some Blackburn Transport single-deckers appear to be getting larger so that some cover both sides, front and back. I hope the smart, new double-deckers will not be disfigured in this way.
Bearing in mind the customary excuse that adverts help to keep fares down, one can only respond with an amazed "Eh?"
Ticket prices were increased about 12 months ago and have just been raised again.
From Blackburn Boulevard to Darwen Circus, on the key trunk route, a senior return, for example, shot up overnight from £1.20 to £1.37.
A senior's rail day return from Blackburn to Darwen is £1.15, a saving of 22p and trains are not smothered in unappealing adverts.
