MOTORISTS are facing major disruptions with a number of local roads due for closure for repair work.
A major route between Leigh and Wigan will be closed to traffic from Saturday for six to eight weeks because of sewer work.
Wigan Road and Leigh Road, Tamar, will be closed between Smiths Lane and Ashby Grove. The junction with Nel Pan Lane will also be closed.
Motorists are advised to take an alternative route: Leigh Road, Atherton Road, Corner Lane, Westleigh lane, Kirkhall Lane, Atherleigh Way, Twist Lane and Wigan Road.
Other road closures are: Findlay Street, Leigh from Saturday for 16 days. A diversion will be along Twist Lane, Milton Street and Railway Road and during this period two way traffic will be permitted along Railway Road between Findlay Street and Milton Street.
Flapper Fold Lane, Atherton from Saturday for 14 days. Diversion between Derby Street and Brierfield Avenue.
