A DRUNKEN shoplifter stole shampoo and strawberry trifles from Sainsburys, but could not even remember how he got there.
Vincent Shaw, 24, was stopped by a store detective, but didn't understand what was being said to him, Burnley Magistrates heard. The defendant, who has 38 previous convictions, was bailed until April 25, for an all options open pre-sentence report.
Shaw, of Glenroy Avenue, Colne, admitted theft of property worth £21.22.
Sue Robinson, defending, said Shaw had no recollection of the theft, only remembering waking up in the police cell.
He had been out for a few drinks with friends at lunchtime and Miss Robinson added the defendant had stayed trouble free for 14 months.
