A SIX-year-old girl will need surgery to a broken leg after a road accident in Church yesterday afternoon.
Sarah Jayne Lobley, of Elmfield Street, was crossing Elmfield Street about 5pm when she was in collision with the car, thought to be a red Volkswagen Golf.
Police are appealing to any Golf drivers in the area at the time to come forward.
Sarah Jayne suffered a serious fracture to her lower leg and ankle.
Inspector Steve Chapman, of Lancashire Police, said: "She is believed to have stepped out in front of a parked vehicle and been struck by the rear of a car. The driver failed to stop, possibly because they didn't know they had been in a collision."
Anyone with information should call PC Stuart Dean at Accrington road policing office on 01254 353767.
