THERE will be no shortage of banter when the Clarets are at Fratton Park on Tuesday night when four footballing folk get together.
The management teams at both Burnley and Portsmouth have chalked up more years in the game than they would probably care to remember.
Burnley's duo of Stan Ternent and Sam Ellis will be pitting their wits against the combined talents of Harry Redknapp and Jim Smith and, win or lose, they will be sure to be sharing a bottle of red wine after the final whistle.
The likelihood is that Burnley will be figuring in the second leg of the South Coast club's promotion party as they will be sure of a place in the Premiership by this evening if they manage to beat Sheffield Wednesday.
But with Leicester City breathing down their neck, there will be no let-up in the last few weeks of the season as they will be determined to go up as champions, having led the table from virtually day one.
Pompey were certainly one of the most impressive sides to play at Turf Moor this season, winning an entertaining game 3-0. The Clarets performed better than that scoreline would suggest and they will not want to let the season die without a fight.
They played at Fratton Park at a similar time last season and on loan striker David Johnson got their goal in a match that ended 1-1, ultimately not good enough for Ternent's play-off chasing side.
The following night, Ronnie Jepson looks sure to field another inexperienced reserve side when they take on local rivals Preston North End.
The youngsters performed well last week against a very strong Walsall side and Ronnie Jepson will be looking for another impressive display against the team that denied the Clarets the Avon Insurance title last season.
