It's an quick push forward straight from the off for Charlton and they win a free kick 30 yards out - but it curls out for a goal kick.

Rovers make their first attacking move but the Charlton defence is alert and the attack is soon ended.

5 minutes gone and Rovers are the first with a shot on goal, it's from Duff who is allowed space in the box - but the angle was tight and Kiely saved.

Free kick to Rovers as Cole is bundled over 25 yards out - the free kick is taken quickly and Rovers keep up their attack.

10 mins gone and it's Rovers 0 Charlton 0 but Tugay down holding his knee after a heavy challenge - he's up on his feet trying to run it off.

After a rather dull few minutes both the crowd and teams get lifted as Dunn whips in a low cross from the right - unfortunately Sukur wasn't given the room to slot it home.

15 mins gone and Charlton get a free kick 40 yards - it's a poor cross and Tugay picks it up, he passes to Duff down the left who is again bundled over.

The cross is delivered low from the freekick and again their is another goal move scramble for Charlton to deal with - but they survive.

Rovers have another freekick after Cole is again fouled - this time it's 30 yards with Dunn lining up the shot - but it's straight at the wall.

20 mins gone and Charlton make their second notable charge at the Rovers goal - this time they win a corner. But the quality is poor and Rovers come away with it.

Charlton get another corner this time on the left - but again it's poor and easily dealt with.

25 mins gone and Rovers come a goal post width from opening the scoring. Gresko crosses after his marker slips, Cole is on the end of it but his header is just wide.

It remains Rovers 0 Charlton 0 with 15 mins to play before the break.

Charlton get another after Friedel makes a vital finger tip save to deny Charlton what would have been an open goal - the corner is wasted and Rovers have it.

Rovers win the corner as their counter attacks catches out Charlton, it's taken by Dunn but is deflected out for another, this time it's Duff from the left - he finds Cole but the header is just over the bar.

Goal to Rovers with ten minutes to go before the break. Duff is the scorer as he latches onto a flick on from Dunn. Duff easily turned his marker and slotted the ball under the keeper who had no chance.

Sukur is penalised for leaning into his marker - from here it looked his marker was pulling Sukur toward him.

5 mins to go before the break and it's Rovers 1 Charlton 0

With minutes to go before half time Charlton make another run at the Rovers box, but desperation gets the better of the strikers as Svensson puts the ball into row Z.

Half time and after a rather dull affair for 30 mins the game finally got going when Duff slotted home to make it Rovers 1 Charlton 0

The teams come out for the second half with neither side deciding to change anything just yet.

Rovers kick off and the game virtually picks up from where it was left with Rovers making an early attack.

5 mins gone and in the second and Charlton get a corner, its poor and Rovers break.

Duff nearly puts Rovers 2 up as he again gets behind the Charlton defence - the move started with Duff in the Rovers half, he passed to Cole who had no where to go so played the ball back to Duff who unfortunately scuffed his shot.

Gresko delivers a neat cross from the left deep into the box but nobody was there - but Rovers do win the corner, it crossed in but easily saved by Kiely.

A brilliant move by Rovers forwards again nearly sees Rovers increase their lead. It started with Tugay then Sukur then Cole and finally Duff who was charged off the ball at the last minute.

The pace of the game is definitely picking up and in Rovers favour - it shouldn't be long for the second goal comes.

Duff has yet another excellent run down the left beating 3 Charlton players, however he has a rush of blood to the head and his cross turns into a shot and goes out for a goal kick.

30 mins to go and it remains Rovers 1 Charlton 0 and again Rovers nearly score with Gresko starting the move passing to Dunn wide on the right who's deep cross is met by Duff - unfortunately his header lands on the roof of the net.

Both teams make a change with Yorke coming on for Sukur and Johansson coming on for Robinson for Charlton.

Cole gets the freekick as his marker leans on him - the resulting play gets Rovers a corner taken by Dunn. It's short but bounce through to Yorke who attempts a scissor kick.

Rovers make their second with Gillespie coming on for Tugay.

20 mins to go and it remains Rovers 1 Charlton 0, the game looks safe but a second would settle the crowd down.

Charlton have a corner but again the delivery is poor - but they manage to hold onto the ball until Duff is fouled.

Kiely makes a fine save to deny Flitcroft of Rovers second - it came from a Gillespie corner which Flitcroft headed like a bullet toward the net.

Charlton make their second change as Kishishev makes way for Blomqvist.

Nearly 10 mins to go and Duff is again instrumental in another Rovers goal scoring chance - Duff took the ball to the by-line cross low to Cole who casually side foots toward goal only to be denied by a defender.

5 mins to go and Rovers are holding onto their single goal lead. Cole almost makes it two as he's one on one with the keeper - but Kiely up for it and makes a fine save.

Rovers make their final change with Grabbi replacing Duff.

Charlton also make their final change bringing on Campbell-Ryce for Lisbie.

In the final minutes Charlton make a last gasp attempt and salvaging a point but the Rovers defences holds strong.

2 mins of added time will be played with Charlton looking ever more desperate - Rovers just need to hold their nerve.

The final whistle goes and Rovers strong finish to the season remains solid as they beat Charlton 1 - 0 with an excellent goal from Damien Duff.
