DARWEN MP Janet Anderson today spoke out in favour of the proposed site for the new £11 million health centre.
Two public meetings were held in March about the location of the centre, behind the Darwen Leisure Centre.
After extensive talks with the council, the MP is sure that the primary care trust has made the right decision.
She said: "I have talked with Coun Sue Reid and director of direct services Peter Hunt on a number of occasions and I am satisfied that the other site options were comprehensively explored and discounted for sound reasons.
"My view is now that the proposed site is the best we have available and that, provided we can be sure that the transport concerns can be met, we should welcome this opportunity for a state-of-the-art health centre.
"It will be an improvement on what we have now and ensure additional services can be provided in Darwen."
