CHURCHGOERS from throughout East Lancashire took part in their annual Palm Sunday processions yesterday to mark the start of Holy Week.
Members of the Barnes Square Methodist Church in Clayton-le-Moors carried a cross from their church to land next to the Balti Stan restaurant in Whalley Road, then erected it and said prayers.
Churchgoers also gathered in Broadway, Accrington, then processed to the Coppice, where a cross was erected by religious group the Knights of St Columba.
Dozens of walkers turned out for the procession, which was followed by prayers and hymns.
