DAREWN produced a five star second half performance to inflict a crushing defeat on Cheadle Town at the Anchor Ground.
Despite carving out a host of opportunities in the first 45 minutes Darwen went into the break without the goals their dominance merited.
Andy Bright went close twice, as did Paul Baker, while Denny Khan headed over the bar.
Straight after the restart, however, David Rhodes played a neat one-two with Craig Shaw and slipped the ball under the keeper to get the goal-fest under way.
Dennis Hill added a second after a mazy run and 25-yard finish and Baker made it three after good work from Bright and Khan.
Shaw then netted after being fed by Baker, who completed the rout with a lob over the stranded Cheadle keeper.
Darwen boss Steve Wilkes was happy with his side's last home display of the campaign. He said: "It was a great way to bring the season to a close at the Anchor - we were well worth the victory and in truth it could easily have been more."
