UNLESS you are a dab hand with sticky tape and card board cut outs, the Easter holidays can be a long break, trying to entertain the children.

Making Easter cards and fluffy yellow ducklings is one way to pass an afternoon but if Blue Peter-style origami is not up your street then it might be worth turning to more structured entertainment.

A first port of call can be your local community centre. Centres in Mill Hill and Accrington Road, Blackburn, to name but two have a host of activities being organised for a variety of children's ages.

And Blackburn with Darwen Council have laid on after school events tomorrow at Darwen Vale and Crosshill Schools.

Among activities being organised by Lancashire County Council, an Easter Egg Competition will be held at Wycoller Country Park, near Colne on April 19 from 1pm.

A spokesperson for Lancashire County Council said: "Bring along your hard-boiled egg, decorate it then join in the fun and roll your egg down the hill.

"Its the perfect way to have some fun over the holidays." Contact 01282 870253 for more details.

A trip further afield can break up the Easter holidays. The museum of science and industry in Manchester is hosting Myths and Monsters Unravelling the Truth. The collection features magical moving models of dragons, Unicorns and Yetis. There are also puppet workshops being laid on over Easter and storytelling sessions. For more information call 0161 833 0027.

And if the sticky tape does run out, Preston Harris Museum and Art gallery have also laid on Easter Bonnet school holiday activity sessions. For details call 01772 258248.

A full listing of activities will be published in the Whats On Guide in the Lancashire Evening Telegraph everyday.
