A MAN who repeatedly stole car stereo systems from parked vehicles has been jailed for four months by Blackburn magistrates.

Shakeel Ahmed, 29, of Tenby Close, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to two offences of stealing from cars and one of handling a stolen vehicle. He asked for eight offences of theft from cars to be taken into consideration.

Stephen Parker, defending, said his client has a heroin problem which caused him to become involved in car crime.

"He knows that he needs to address that problem," said Mr Parker.

Imposing a jail sentence, the chairman said the magistrates had taken into account the distress and inconvenience of victims.
