A MAN claiming to be an undercover police officer forced his way into the home of a Bury pensioner.
The bogus caller searched the 70-year-old man's pockets after he called at his home in Ainsworth Road at 8.30pm on Thursday (April 10).
The raider claimed he was an plain-clothes officer but did not produce any proof of identification. After searching the man he made off with a mobile phone worth £100. The victim was not injured but was left shaken by the incident.
Detectives are appealing for help in identifying the robber who was white, in his 30s and wearing a blue hat and jacket. Information can be passed on to police at Bury CID on 856 8150.
