I DON'T know why Eric Leaver (LET, April 9) finds it so amusing that the North Lancashire and Cumbria Branch of the Inland Waterways Association should walk along the canal.
I would use that expression in normal speech, but I would also take the precaution of using the towpath, an integral part of the canal.
As one of the 17 people who enjoyed the walk, I can confirm that no-one got their feet or any other part of their anatomy wet. Some of us followed the walk with lunch at Pendle Heritage Centre.
The Branch organises walks along various sections of the Leeds/Liverpool and Lancaster Canals. The next one is on Tuesday, May 13 and you will be pleased to know there will be no possibility of getting wet (unless it rains) as we will be visiting a section of the Lancaster Canal which has been filled in. The walk starts at Levens Hall at 10.30am. Lunches afterwards at Levens Hall.
