RETURNING a faulty car to a garage "round the corner" landed Simon James Lever with his 15th conviction for disqualified driving.
Blackburn magistrates adjourned the case for pre-sentence reports with a warning that all options, including custody, would be open to the sentencing bench.
Lever, 24, of Lonsdale Street, Accrington, pleaded guilty to driving while disqualified and without insurance and the case was adjourned until May 12.
Clare Fanning, prosecuting, said Lever's last conviction for driving while disqualified had resulted in a 168 day prison sentence.
Andrew Church-Taylor, defending, said that since his release from prison Lever had managed to obtain a job and had turned his life round to a large extent.
On the day of the latest offence he returned home from work and his partner told him she had bought a car for £200 but as she drove home realised the brakes did not work.
"He was not best pleased and was driving the car round the corner to the garage to demand their money back when he was seen and recognised by the police," said Mr Church-Taylor.
"His disqualification was due to finish in June and that would have been the first time in a long time that he would have been able to drive legally."
