COLNE slumped to defeat in their final league game but joint manager Paul Lynch remained upbeat.
"The last two results have been disappointing," he said. "We could have finished sixth but, it has been Colne's best league finish since forming in 1996."
With seven first team regulars injured, Colne were forced to field an inexperienced side. But they had the better of the opening stages, with Gavin Cooper and George Craddock going close.
Craddock then had a goal disallowed for a dubious offside on the half-hour after heading in James Webster's free kick.
Colne pressed forward but Blackpool were dangerous on the break and scored the winner 10 minutes from time with Gardiner's 20-yard shot.
