INDUSTRIAL action by council workers set to take effect from midnight on Thurday has been suspended after employees met bosses on Tuesday night.
Refuse collectors, street-cleansing workers and toilet cleaners at Lancaster City Council voted for industrial action and planned a continuous overtime ban after they claimed they were not being fairly paid for working extra hours.
Mark Davies, head of the council's city contract services, says proposals have now been put forward to resolve the dispute through negotiations.
