AN inexperienced youth team suffered a narrow defeat against Doncaster Rovers at the weekend against a bigger and stronger side.

But manager Terry Pashley was still delighted with the efforts of 19-year-old striker Damien Hindle who netted his 18th goal of the season.

He said: "Damien has now got the magical 20 goal mark in his sights and the way he is playing I would not bet against him making it.

"He deserves it because he has been tremendous for me and he has come on in each of his three years at the club. The challenge that he now has is taking it into the reserve team on a regular basis.

"He has seen some of the other lads getting involved in the first team and that is a great carrot for all the young players."

Hindle added to that tally last night when he was on target for the rerserves against Preston North End at Deepdale.

At the weekend Pashley felt that the youngsters he put out were almost bullied out of it by their older and bigger opponents but he said: "It was still a good experience but it has been very difficult in the last few weeks with having some of the lads on first team duty.

"It has just been a question of throwing them in and the problem is that until I can get hold of them on a daily basis and teach them good habits it will be hard.

"In the squad I had three from the under-15s, three from the under-16s and when they are up against big strapping 19-year-olds it will be a struggle."
