DANIEL Preedy edged out Nick Tomlinson to win Division One of Clitheroe Golf Club's April Medal.

Julian Troup and John Cartmell both posted net 70s to take the other prizes.

Meanwhile, Gordon Rothwell shot a tremendous net 65 to take Division Two and qualify for the north west regional final of the Lombard Trophy at Hesketh.

Success there could see Gordon and John Twissell taking part in the final at San Lorenzo in September.

Wayne Townley, with a creditable 68, just pipped Bernard Bithell for second place and Keith Underwood, brother of football manager, took Division Three.

Trevor Jones, Simon Hale and Geoff Sutcliffe carried George Stoddart to top spot in the Sunday Yellowball. A high powered final two holes gave them the advantage over second placed Steve Allcock's team by two shots. Paul Burrows, John Whowell and Gordon Rothwell made up the team.

Clitheroe have a festival of golf planned for the Easter weekend with three sponsored events culminating in a presentation supper on Easter Sunday. Captain Paul Marlowe will make the presentations in the clubhouse.
