THERE are plenty of sporting activities available in Hapton over the Easter holidays. Every Wednesday night from 6pm-7pm there is football training at the pitch, supervised by Daniel Procter and Darren Thomas.
Junior bowling started yesterday where professional tutors are on hand to coach the children leading to a competition at the end of the season.
Participants in both activities will be able to buy refreshments at the pavilion.
Hapton School's ground is providing a football school on April 23, 24 and 25. Members of Burnley Football Club will provide professional advice.
PLANNING proposals being considered for Padiham include proposals to build four three-storey houses in Queen Street, which is in a conservation area.
Padiham councillors felt that the development was not suitable for the area and that it would cover the only grassed land in the area where children play.
However, Councillor Mary Atkinson pointed out that as the land is privately owned residents could be stopped from using it.
PADIHAM Green Primary School played two football matches against St Leonard's Primary School and won both. Man of the Match for the 'A' team was Joshua Brown and for the 'B' team it was Matthew Heap.
The Green School also had a taste of the troubles of World War Two when they visited Eden Camp, a former prisoner of war camp which has been turned into a museum, as part of their history project.
TOMORROW sees the start of the 32nd Higham Arts and Crafts Festival which runs until Easter Monday. St John's Church will also be open to show floral displays and have organ recitals from 1pm-6pm each day.
AN Easter Saturday dance is being held at Padiham Town Hall. Music will be provided by Brian Kenyon at the organ. The dance will run from 7.30pm-11pm. Admission £4.
