A JAPANESE choir will soon fly to Europe to sing in Vienna, and then Colne!
The ladies' choir Coro Ventuno Tokyo, based in Japan's capital, will perform with the men of Colne Orpheus Glee Union in a bank holiday weekend concert at Christ Church, in Keighley Road, on Friday, May 9.
The ladies' choir sings both Japanese traditional music and western classical music.
The Colne visit came about through a tie between the family of Colne Orpheus committee member Ian Short and tour organiser Hidi Sakamoto. Mr Sakamoto visited Colne a few months ago when he was planning the tour.
Orpheus chairman Eric Beardsworth said: "We think it's marvellous that they're coming to Colne after singing in a cultural capital such as Vienna."
The concert will begin at 7pm and a £2 entry fee will cover church expenses.
