MORE than ten years of research came to fruition this week with the publication of a new book, A History of Edenfield and District.
Written by local historian John Simpson, it tells the story of the village and its neighbours -- Turn, Stubbins, Irwell Vale and Ewood Bridge -- from the 18th century to the present day.
Changes in local landscapes, farming, industry, shop-keeping and education are all included.
Mr Simpson said: "Research for the book involved reading through hundreds of old newspapers and documents in libraries and record offices from Perth in Scotland to London."
The book will be made available in local shops and libraries.
